Specifications
BRK6/6 and BRK6/12

1.  The enclosures shall be the PWR Series BRK6/6 or BRK6/12 as required by the circuit layout.

2.  The enclosures shall be dead-front switchboards incorporating over-current protection, line and load termination, internal power and signal distribution wiring, and provide mounting facilities for a controller, power supply, and up to 6 power modules.

3.  The enclosures shall be wall mounted, NEMA Type 1, IP-20 protection, intended for indoor use in dry locations. The enclosures shall be no larger than 24.2"H x 18.2"W X 6"D and shall be designed to mount on 16" C/C studs.

4.  The enclosures shall be constructed of minimum 16 gauge formed steel and have no protruding features or mounting ears. Breaker handles shall be recessed to prevent accidental operation and physical damage. A removable top-hinged door secured by captive hardware shall prevent unauthorized access. The exterior and interior shall be finished in textured baked enamel with white epoxy silk-screen.

5.  A minimum of 18 conduit entry knockouts, each accommodating ¾", 1", or 1½" conduit shall be provided. 14 knockouts shall be dedicated to NEC Class 1 line and load wiring and be located on the enclosure top and sides. 5 knockouts shall be dedicated to NEC Class 2 control wiring and be located on the enclosure bottom and sides. The enclosures shall also provide dedicated areas on top and sides for contractor punched holes, accommodating up to 3" conduit for line and load wiring.

6.  A field configurable line feed and power distribution system shall accommodate 1Ø - 2 wire + ground, 1Ø - 3 wire + ground, and 3Ø - 4 wire + ground feed wiring. Line terminals shall accommodate up to #1/0 AWG wire. Delta configuration shall be available as a factory option.

7.  The enclosures shall provide separate multi-tap terminals for all neutral and ground connections accommodating wire sizes between #14AWG and #1/0AWG.

8.  The enclosures shall employ up to 12 special purpose UL489 listed fully magnetic branch circuit breakers for over-current protection. The breakers shall be UL listed for SWD duty and be rated for minimum 10,000 operations at full rated current and voltage. Breakers shall be available with 10, 15, 20, 30 and 50A ratings. Thermal, thermal-magnetic, UL1077 recognized, or other devices not UL listed as branch breakers for continues operation at 100% of rated current shall not be acceptable.

9.  The circuit breaker trip-curve shall be designed specifically to prevent nuisance tripping of loads with in-rush current of no less than 20 times nominal current.

10.  The circuit breaker fault current rating shall be minimum 10,000AIC.

11.  The enclosures shall be convection cooled only and rated for continuous operation in ambient temperatures up to 40° C. Systems utilizing fans or other means of forced primary or supplementary cooling shall not be acceptable.

12.  The enclosures shall be UL listed for continuous operation at 100% of their rating per NEC 1999 Article 210-20-a. Systems failing to meet this requirement shall not be acceptable.

13.  The enclosures including their internal wiring, termination points, mounting hardware, modules, power supply, and controller shall be UL and cUL listed as a complete assembly and for Canadian installations comply with CSA Standard C22.2 #14-M91. UL recognized or listed devices alone shall not be acceptable unless documentation is submitted to verify that the entire assembly, including the controller and enclosure, has been tested and evaluated by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) and found to meet all the herein-mentioned standards and requirements.
