1. The enclosures shall be the PWR Series ENC2, ENC4, or ENC6 as
required by the circuit layout.
2. The enclosures shall provide mounting facilities for controllers, power
supplies, and power modules. The ENC2, ENC4, and ENC6 shall provide space for 2, 4, and 6
modules respectively.
3. The system design shall facilitate formation of larger, modular enclosure
configurations by joining adjacent units employing standard electrical fittings. The
fittings shall provide required structural integrity and segregated NEC Class 1 & 2
wiring ways between the individual enclosure sections.
4. The enclosures shall be wall mounted, NEMA Type 1, IP-20 protection, intended
for indoor use in dry locations. The ENC2 and ENC4 shall be no larger than 12"H x
6"W X 6"D and 12"H x 12"W X 6"D respectively. The ENC6 shall be
no larger than 12"H x 18"W X 6"D and shall be designed to mount on 16"
C/C studs.
5. The enclosures shall be constructed of minimum 16 gauge formed steel and have
no protruding features or mounting ears. A removable top-hinged door secured by captive
hardware shall prevent unauthorized access. The exterior and interior shall be finished in
textured baked enamel with white epoxy silk-screen.
6. A minimum of 6, 8, and 10 conduit entry knockouts shall be provided for the
ENC2, ENC4, and ENC6 respectively. Each knockout shall accommodate ¾", 1", or
1½" conduit. Knockouts dedicated to NEC Class 1 line and load wiring shall be
located on the enclosure top and sides. Knockouts dedicated to NEC Class 2 control wiring
shall be located on the enclosure bottom and sides.
7. The ENC2 shall incorporate a mechanical ground lug accommodating wire sizes
from #14 AWG up to #6 AWG. The ENC4 and ENC6 shall provide 2 multi-tap terminals for
ground and neutral connections accommodating wire sizes between #14 AWG and #1/0 AWG.
8. The enclosures shall be convection cooled only and rated for continuos
operation in ambient temperatures up to 40° C. Systems utilizing fans or other means of
forced primary or supplementary cooling shall not be acceptable.
9. The enclosures shall be UL listed for continuous operation at 100% of their
rating per NEC 1999 Article 210-20-a. Systems failing to meet this requirement shall not
be acceptable.
10. The enclosures including their internal wiring, termination points, mounting
hardware, modules, power supply, and controller shall be UL and cUL listed as a complete
assembly and for Canadian installations comply with CSA Standard C22.2 #14-M91. UL
recognized or listed devices alone shall not be acceptable unless documentation is
submitted to verify that the entire assembly, including the controller and enclosure, has
been tested and evaluated by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) and found
to meet all the herein-mentioned standards and requirements.
